How to Build a Brand in E-Commerce?
Guys, today we are going to discuss in detail how to build a brand in e-commerce — and what things you need to focus on so that your orders don’t decrease but instead keep increasing over time.
Welcome to the Video
Hey guys, welcome to another new video.
Today we are talking about e-commerce branding — how you should prepare and how you should register your e-commerce brand properly.
This video is very interesting, so make sure you watch it completely.
Order Status & Business Operations
First, let’s check today’s order count — how many parcels are going to be dispatched.
Right now, orders are increasing steadily. Visibility has improved and order flow has increased.
However, there’s one issue:
One of our top-performing products is out of stock. Because of that, we reduced its order flow by about 50%.
Why?
Because:
-
Stock is unavailable.
-
New stock will take 4–5 days to arrive.
-
If we keep receiving 80–90 orders daily for that product, we won’t find inventory in the market.
-
Even if we do, buying at high prices will lead to losses.
So we reduce orders temporarily and fulfill what we can.
When new stock arrives, we give it an initial boost again and orders start flowing rapidly.
Current Order Stats
Let’s check the panels:
On Meesho Panel:
-
Around 84 orders received in the morning.
-
Total dispatch count today: around 319.
-
Around 15 parcels are pending.
-
So roughly 300+ parcels will be dispatched today.
On Flipkart Panel:
-
Pending orders: 0 (processed before 2 PM).
-
Today’s count: 26 orders.
-
15 new upcoming orders — will be dispatched tomorrow.
-
Total expected tomorrow: around 25–28 orders.
Adding everything together:
-
Meesho + Flipkart + Home & Kitchen = Around 340 parcels dispatched today.
How to Build Your Own Brand in E-Commerce?
Now let’s talk about the important part — brand registration.
What You Need to Build a Brand:
-
A unique brand name.
-
GST number (mandatory).
-
Trademark registration.
-
Proper documentation.
Why You Should Register a Brand?
Many sellers:
-
Sell in generic categories.
-
Don’t register a brand.
-
Face future business problems.
-
Experience competition copying their listings.
-
Sometimes even face business failure.
This is a big mistake.
If you start a business, first:
-
Choose a unique brand name.
-
Register it legally.
Cost of Brand Registration
Government fee: Around ₹4,500.
If you hire a professional:
-
Total cost may range from ₹7,000 to ₹10,000+.
After application:
-
It takes around 2 years for trademark approval.
-
If no objections or legal issues arise, it gets registered.
-
After approval, you get a trademark certificate.
Why Trademark Certificate Is Important?
If you want:
-
Protection from competitors copying your listing.
-
Brand control on marketplaces.
Then you need a trademark certificate.
Marketplaces require it for brand protection and registry benefits.
Two Application Scenarios
1. Fresh Brand
If your brand is new:
-
Apply normally.
-
No previous documentation required.
2. Brand Already in Use (1+ Year)
If you already used the brand:
You need:
-
Invoices
-
Sales proof
-
Product images
-
Raw material invoices
-
Affidavit stating brand usage
This increases approval chances.
If a competitor files trademark at the same time:
You can prove earlier usage through invoices and documents.
Important Documentation Tips
Even if applying fresh:
You should still:
-
Generate invoices under your brand.
-
Buy raw material with brand mention.
-
Keep GST invoices.
-
Purchase domain name for the brand.
These act as proof in case of future disputes.
Example:
If your brand is registered under Class 25 (clothing), keep regular purchase invoices every few months to show continuous usage.
Even small bills (₹8,000 etc.) help maintain proof.
You only pay the GST amount — not necessarily buying large stock — just maintaining legal proof.
Why Domain Purchase Helps?
Buying your brand’s domain:
-
Acts as supporting evidence.
-
Strengthens trademark application.
-
Shows serious brand intent.
Once Brand Is Registered
When trademark approval happens:
-
Your brand becomes legally protected.
-
Competitors can’t easily copy your listing.
-
Brand control improves.
-
Business credibility increases.
That’s how brand registry works.
Final Thoughts
We are currently registering three brands ourselves.
One clothing brand is already registered — now we are registering its wordmark version as well.
We are collecting:
-
Old invoices
-
Purchase records
-
Listing proofs
And sending everything to our lawyer to increase registration chances.
